Blade Quest

Nim

Quest: “A Phonex Tale” — Starts in the Fonsett Residential Area, Fonsett Village, Leftherian Archipelago (Fandom lists Nim as the giver; Xeno Series Wiki credits the Phonex Mix). Objectives span Leftheria, Uraya and Temperantia.

Earth Knuckle Claws HLR From Chapter 5

How to get Nim: Random pull from Core Crystals (Rare Blade, rarity 2, source listed as "Random Core Crystal"). No specific pull odds are published on the wiki.

Before you start

Story progress
Chapter 5 or later
Both wikis place it under Chapter 5 (Fonsett is visited during Chapter 5 en route to Indol; Fandom: after the group sets out for Temperantia). Xeno Series Wiki also lists Pyra among the required party — she is absent during Chapters 8–9.
How the quest unlocks
Unlock Nim's Key Affinity Reward Lv 3 (Trust 1,300) and have her Lv 1 "Phonex Linguistics" field skill (her exclusive skill, present from awakening). Then go to the Fonsett Residential Area in Leftheria with Nim — the quest triggers there when she meets the Phonex Mix, whose brother Pex has gone missing. Starting the quest itself unlocks Phonex Linguistics Lv 2.
Field skill checks
  • Ichthyology (Nim has it, max Lv 3) — needed at all three fish Collection Points: Pinfins near Baldotas Isle, Cobalt Eels behind Tardy Gate, Trippy Catfish south of the Ardainian Garrison
  • Phonex Linguistics Lv 1 (Nim-exclusive) — required to unlock the quest at all
Also required
  • Fandom notes Dromarch must be equipped to Nia for the first Phonex Village visit at Ysheva Harbor
  • Discrepancy: Xeno Series Wiki additionally requires Nia, Tora, Mòrag, Zeke, Pyra and Nim in the party; Fandom and Underbuffed list only the Nim requirements

Walkthrough

  1. With Nim's Key Affinity Lv 3 and Phonex Linguistics Lv 1, enter the Fonsett Residential Area in Leftheria to trigger the quest — Mix asks for help finding her brother Pex.
  2. Visit the Phonex Village at Ysheva Harbor, Leftheria (Fandom notes Dromarch must be equipped to Nia) and speak to the Phonex there.
  3. Report back to Mix in the Fonsett Residential Area.
  4. Collect 10 Pinfins at the fish Collection Point near Baldotas Isle, Leftheria (Ichthyology field skill), then bring them to Gox at Ysheva Harbor to win the village's trust.
  5. Find the Urayan Phonex village near Coralline Sanctum, then find the Phonex Jix in the Commercial District of Fonsa Myma.
  6. Collect 10 Cobalt Eels at the Collection Point just behind Tardy Gate, Uraya (Ichthyology), then speak with a Phonex at Crown of Sanctuary, Uraya.
  7. Find the Temperantia Phonex village inside the Aegishammer, then find the Phonex outside the village elsewhere in Temperantia.
  8. Collect 10 Trippy Catfish at the beach Collection Point south of the Ardainian Garrison, Temperantia (Ichthyology), then speak with the Phonexes in the Aegishammer — beware, a Lv 97 Gefillon Behemoth can be sitting on the objective marker.
  9. Go to the Ruined Chapel of Danafas, Temperantia, and defeat the Vacillus Antol (Lv 44 quest boss; Xeno Series Wiki notes 4 Demon Antols accompany it) that has taken Pex to be eaten.
  10. Defeat the Demon Mamongath (Lv 43 quest boss) at the Isle of Urchon, Leftheria — the "demon" plaguing the Phonex.
  11. Return to the Phonex Village at Ysheva Harbor, where Nim is celebrated as the Phonex's legendary hero.

Good to know

  • The quest trigger is passive and easy to miss: nothing appears on the map beforehand — just walk into the Fonsett Residential Area with Nim in the party once her Key Affinity Lv 3 is unlocked.
  • At the final Aegishammer village visit a Lv 97 Gefillon Behemoth may be parked on the objective. You do not need to fight it: aggro it, run up the nearby cliff until it disengages, then dash to the objective before it respawns.
  • This is a long fetch-heavy tour (three regions, three 10-fish collections). Make sure a Blade with Ichthyology is on your active Drivers — Nim herself carries it, and the collection points are exactly where the wiki says: Baldotas Isle, behind Tardy Gate, and the garrison beach.
