How to get Boreas: Random pull from Core Crystals (Rare Blade, rarity 2, source listed as "Random"). Not tied to any quest, story event, or DLC; the wiki publishes no specific pull odds for him.

Chapter 5 or later
Both wikis place it in Chapter 5 (Fandom: after the group sets out for Temperantia; Xeno Series Wiki: after Zeke joins). Pyra is required and absent during Chapters 8–9, so the window is Chapters 5–7 or from Chapter 10.
How the quest unlocks
Unlock Boreas's Key Affinity Reward Lv 5 by filling Boreas's Food Stash in Goldmouth Warehouse, Argentum: four boxes filled strictly in sequence — Cooked Food, then Desserts, then Veg-Based Food, then Beverages — each to a counter of 100 (higher-rarity dishes add more points). The Food Stash wiki page adds that Nopon Wisdom Lv 2 (node: speak to a Nopon, count 50) must also be unlocked. Then talk to Rumtumtum at Rumbletum Canteen with Pyra, Nia, Tora, Mòrag, Zeke AND Boreas all in the party.
Field skill checks
  • Fleet of Foot Lv 2 (Boreas-exclusive skill) — optional check at Ansel Hatchery to have Boreas fetch the Shimmering Feather and skip fighting 4 Shika Rhoguls
  • Fleet of Foot Lv 3 — optional check at Hardhaigh Palace to have Boreas fetch Niall's Underwear (otherwise Mòrag steals it in a scene)
Also required
  • Pyra, Nia, Tora, Mòrag, Zeke and Boreas must all be in the party to receive the quest (confirmed by both Fandom and Xeno Series Wiki)
  • Food stash boxes only accept the listed food-type pouch items; the boxes cannot be filled out of order

Walkthrough

  1. With Boreas's Key Affinity Lv 5 (all four food stash boxes filled) and Nopon Wisdom Lv 2 unlocked, talk to Rumtumtum at Rumbletum Canteen in Argentum with Pyra, Nia, Tora, Mòrag, Zeke and Boreas in the party.
  2. Go to Boreas's food stash in Goldmouth Warehouse, Argentum — the entire stash has been stolen by Yumyum the Burglar, and an enraged Boreas dashes off and returns with a stolen Solemn Statue.
  3. Find the statue's owner Gianluca: he is on Quattor Street in Indol, or at Anangham 2 Dock in Mor Ardain (use the Mor Ardain location once Indol is no longer accessible after Chapter 8).
  4. Get a Shimmering Feather at Ansel Hatchery in the Leftherian Archipelago — either defeat the 4 Shika Rhoguls (Lv 54) guarding it, or pass a Fleet of Foot Lv 2 field skill check to have Boreas snatch it without a fight.
  5. Return to Rumbletum Canteen in Argentum.
  6. Get Niall's Underwear at Hardhaigh Palace in Mor Ardain — a Fleet of Foot Lv 3 check lets Boreas fetch it; if you fail or skip it, Mòrag steals the underwear instead.
  7. Speak to Yumyum the Burglar at Nharil Central Plaza, Mor Ardain.
  8. Go to the Bastion of Varrac in Temperantia for the Bloomshroom; defeat the 4 Roiba Ignas (Lv 52) that attack, then take the Bloomshroom from the treasure trove there.
  9. Return to Rumbletum Canteen and have Rumtumtum cook the Bloomshroom; Boreas eats the 100-year mushroom as his prize and the quest completes.

Good to know

  • The unlock is the infamous part: all four stash boxes must be filled IN ORDER (cooked food → desserts → veg → drinks) to 100 points each, and food is consumed on deposit. Buying the Nopox, Placks and Praximo Deeds raises your lifestyle-item carrying capacity and makes the stuffing runs far faster; higher-rarity dishes advance the counter more.
  • Raise Boreas's exclusive Fleet of Foot skill to Lv 3 (Trust 1,300 for Lv 2, 9,800 for Lv 3) before starting — it lets you skip the Lv 54 Shika Rhogul fight entirely and get the fun Boreas variant of the underwear heist.
  • Gianluca is easy to lose track of: he is in Indol (Quattor Street) earlier in the game but moves to Anangham 2 Dock in Mor Ardain once Indol becomes unavailable after Chapter 8.
